Noise reduction ventilation measures yachts
For this project, Heesen Yachts has approached Alara-Lukagro to assist them in contributing to further sound reduction on board of one of their yachts.
Shipyard: Heesen Yachts
Within a short period of time, Alara-Lukagro has, together with Heesen Yachts, come to a creative solution that, despite the limited space, yet achieves the desired sound reduction. This was done by diverting the air stream within the available space through a splitter silencer, after which the air was yet blown into the engine room through a newly created channel.
To achieve the desired sound reduction, it is important to take into account all contributing factors when designing the sound silencer. One of these factors is an increase in pressure drop that occurs because the air is conducted through a smaller opening than before. For this application, Alara-Lukagro has calculated the impact hereof on the performance of the ventilators. In the end, a solution was designed that optimizes both sound reduction and ventilation and complies with the intended test values.
After finishing the design and production, this solution has been installed by an Alara-Lukagro assembly team, on board of the yacht in the port of Puerto Banus (Marbella) where the yacht was situated at that time.
