Doornroosje Nijmegen fitted with acoustic doors and louvres
The new Doornroosje pop concert venue was built on the former TPG location in the centre of Nijmegen. Above the two halls there is accommodation for 350 students. A unique combination in which maximum attention was devoted to sound attenuation.
Alara-Lukagro, in association with acoustic consultancy firm Peutz, provided noise calculations for the interior doors at an early stage of the project. These were used to select the types of acoustic doors and door leaves. The project involved a total of eight double-leaf revolving doors, two of which were fitted with glass, six single-leaf revolving doors and two sliding doors. A large number of the doors were designed to be 60 minutes fire resistant. Alara-Lukagro totally unburdens its clients and took care of the engineering, production, preservation treatment and installation, fully handled in-house.

Low frequency attenuated doors
The soundproof doors were fully customised by Alara-Lukagro to meet the customer’s exact specifications. An important aspect concerned attenuating the low frequency tones of 63, 125 and 250 Hz, which are very common in pop music. The doors were designed to attenuate these frequencies.
Acoustic louvres
Alara-Lukagro fitted the facade of the student accommodation, on top of the pop concert venue, with 37 acoustic louvres (see also main photo).
